We’ve had the privilege of visiting the Chidambaram Natarajar temple on multiple occasions in the past, but our recent group tour with Madhusudhan Kalaichelvan added a special dimension to the experience. He led us to numerous lesser-known temples in the vicinity of Chidambaram, culminating in our visit to this temple.

There is so much written about this temple and it is well known.  It holds the distinction of being a Padal Petra Sthalam, a Pancha Bootha Kshetram representing the element of Sky, and a Divya Desam.

Exploring the practices of the Dikshitars here is a truly captivating experience, offering a deeper understanding of their operations.

If there’s one valuable takeaway, it would be to explore the lesser-known temples surrounding this sacred site. Each of them is steeped in history and enriched with intriguing stories, as highlighted in our previous posts.

Additionally, we were fortunate to have the opportunity to conduct our Chithapa and Chitti’s Sadhabhishekam at the temple, an extraordinary experience. Participating in the Rudrabhishekam within the temple premises and concluding with the final abhishekam using the water from the temple’s own ritual offerings was a profound blessing that we cherish.
