As we set out early from Trivandrum, we had ample time after exploring Thiruvattaru and Thirupathisaram to also pay a visit to Suseendhram and the Nagaraja temple in Nagerkoil.
The Thanumalayan Suseendhram Temple stands as a massive structure spanning a vast 5-acre area. One of its unique features is the presence of musical pillars that produce melodious sounds. Inside the temple, there is a remarkable 22-foot statue of Lord Hanuman, which was buried in 1740 and subsequently forgotten. It wasn’t until 1930 that this statue was rediscovered and painstakingly restored. However, what truly captured my fascination were the three lingams discovered beneath a tree, almost entirely engulfed by the tree’s trunk. Additionally, the temple boasts an expansive and impressive temple tank.
